Friends Forever

Smarty Pants

Our little Bryns is getting to be so grown up!  Especially after seeing her next to Grace last week, she seems so huge!  It wasn't even a year ago she at that same stage too!  Oh, the time just flies by!  Brynlee will be 11 months old on Thursday!  Just sent out the invites to her First Bday Party yesterday, so we are already in Party Planning mode!  Well, Shari and I have been in party planning mode for about a month now so we could figure out the cake, the most important part!  :)

She is also all of a sudden becoming so smart!  It is crazy how it has only been 2 years since Grady was this age, but I just forget all of the fun things they start doing!

*She can tell you what a cow says.  Moo!  Which mostly sounds like Boo from her lips!
*She will try to put her socks on her own feet when I am dressing her.
* She will go get her hat and try to put it on her head if she sees we are getting ready to leave.
*She will go get Grady's shoes and bring them to us when I am helping him get dressed.
*She will bring me her own coat when she sees I am putting Grady's coat on him.  And then she will squeal with excitement when I put it on her!
*She waves Hi and Bye Bye.  She will even start waving bye bye when she WANTS to go or when she sees someone get their purse, put on their shoes, or put on their coat.
*She gives the best open mouth kisses, on demand!
*She loves to do patty cake and clap on her own.  She will even sing along for part of it!
*She TRIES to answer other quesions we ask, like 'what does a dog say' or 'how old are you' and knows she is trying to answer, but she answers Moo for all of them, like a cow!  I'm trying to change my tone of voice when I ask her things b/c I think she just heard our question voice and assumes we are asking her what a cow says.  :)
*She is walking on her knees everywhere!  I tried to upload a video of it on here, but it wouldn't let me.  It is hilarious!  She will not even let us put her on her feet anymore, she just drops to her knees and takes off.  I guess she feels like she is still upright like everyone else, but feels safe not to be up on her feet???  Who knows!  She will crawl too, but she prefers to walk on her knees, which is actually slower....hmm...strange child.
*She is a great eater, eats any and all table food.  Especially loves turkey, mandarin oranges, oreo's, cheese slices, chicken, roast beef, and crackers.  She will still eat a little bit of baby food, but we have to sneak it in and she has to be in the right mood.  She also loves oranges, but we limit them since she loves to chew on the rind...
*She is still a great sleeper!  Her perfect night would be 7:30 pm to 7:30 am.
*She is still in love with her brother and he can do anything and everything to her and she thinks it is great fun.
*When I ask her 'where is mommy', 'where is daddy', etc.  she will look at the person I am asking about.
*She is starting to learn to hold up her hands for 'All done' when she is done eating.
*She loves to be outside!  She even loves to stand at the door and look outside and gets super excited if someone comes to the door!

Where does he come up with this stuff???

Grady:  (singing happily)  "Hi Ho The Mommio, The Teacher's Not Here!"    When Ashley and I took him swimming at the Y the day after his first swimming lesson, which we left after 15 minutes of screaming and throwing up because he was scared of the teacher and of being away from me.

I was telling him that I am making a present for a new baby that isn't born yet (isn't out of it's mommy's tummy yet).  This was tricky because the mom's name is Ashley (Paul's cousin), but I didn't want to say Ashley because I knew he would get confused with his Aunt Ashley and think she was having a baby.  I also didn't want to say the new baby's name is going to be Harper because he has a friend named Harper (Tyler & Anslee's daughter) so I knew that would also confuse him if I said it was for Harper.
Grady:  Mommy, where are we going?
Me:  We are going to Aunt Shari's house to pick something up for a present I'm going to make for a baby.
Grady:  Oh, for Brynlee?
Me:  No, not Brynlee, a different baby.
Grady:  Oh, for Grace?
Me:  No, not for Grace, a different baby that isn't born yet.
Grady:  Mommy!  You have another baby in your tummy??  It is going to be born!  You need to go to the hospital and knock on the door.  They will let you in and put you in a bed and you will lay on the bed and the baby will come out of your tummy!
Me:  No I am NOT having another baby come out of my tummy.  Brynlee already came out, remember?  (Trying to make him get ideas out of his head that he will go to daycare and tell everyone!)  :)
Grady:  Oh, this is a different baby?

While going potty in the bathroom, which he pretty much does all by himself now:
Grady yelling:  Mommy, come bring me my Gabba book!  I gotta go poop too!

He had a toy phone drop on his foot and make a scratch.  You would have thought his toe fell off for the amount of drama that surrounded this incident.  He refused to wear socks, have a blanket go over his foot, and showed it to everyone he saw for the first 2 days....
We're praying before bed, about an hour after it happend:
Grady:  No Mommy, I can't have covers on my foot, it has a scratch!
Me:  Ok, do you want some socks on your feet to help it feel better?
Grady:  No, I can't have socks, there is a scratch!
Me:  Ok, then let's just pray so you can go to sleep and it will feel better in the morning.
Grady:  Mommmy!  I can't pray!!  I have a scratch on my foot.
Me:  I know you have a scratch.  You need to pray for it to get better.
Grady:  Ok.  Dear God, Please help my foot feel better.  Love, Grady (after some prompting)
Me:  Good job, now let's say our other prayers.
Grady:  Mommy!!  It's NOT WORKING!

I got a new keyboard for my iPad and was trying it out.
Grady:  No Mommy, that doesn't go on an iPad.  It's an iPad, not a computer!!
Me:  Yes, it's for the iPad,  it's so I can type letters.
Grady:  No Mommy No!  Take it off!  I want to play the iPad.
Me:  I'm going to try it out for just a little bit and then you can play it.  Let's find the letters in your name!  (He types the letters in his name.)
Next day:
Grady:  Mommy I want to use the iPad computer to type my letters in my name.
:)  Now he calles it an iPad computer since I sometimes put the keyboard on it.

He is obsessed with Super Why.  A show on PBS kids.  He will sit and watch it on my phone or on the iPad all day long if he could.  He calls himself Super Why or Super Grady.  He runs around singing the Super Why song all the time.  He makes up instances where he is needed as Super Why.  I walked into daycare one day and he was fighting with another little boy on if he is Super Why or not.  Super Readers to the Rescue.  The Power to Read.  :)
Don't worry, he is also still in love with Gabba, The Wiggles, and pretty much anything on Nick Jr.  Especially Backyardigans, Team UmiZoomi, and Wonder Pets.

He thinks Grandma & Grandpa Guenther have the biggest house in the whole world.  He randomly will tell us that we have a small house and they have a big house.  Andy & Cassie also have a small house.  Lori & Scott have a big house.  We were driving by a country club one day (which is obviously huge) and he asked if it was Gma & Gpas house b/c it looks like it to him! haha!  Pretty much anything that is 2 stories is big to him I guess.  Although Lori and Scott don't have 2 stories, so I have no idea where he gets his measurements from....

Overhearing Luke & Grady talking, after we had heard some whining and bickering between them:
Luke:  You are being naughty!
Grady:  You are being naughty AND I'm being naughty!
Luke:  No, you are being naughty.
Grady:  You were being naughty at Grandma & Grandpa's house too!!
love it.

January Recap

Since one of my New Years Resolutions was to blog at least once a week (which I have been doing!) I also wanted to add to it that I want to do a post at the end of every month of a 'recap' of what we did that month or big things that happened.  Again, mostly for a reminder for me in the future when I'm trying to remember what age a child was when something happened or putting a photo book together and can't remember anything!  :)

Milestones/Special Events:
*Of course our biggest event this month was Grady's 3rd Bday on January 27th!
*Brynlee was 9 Months on January 1st.
*Brynlee cut her 2 top teeth!  Technically, 1 of them isn't all the way poked through yet, but she ws working on them all month it seemed like!  That brings her total count to 4.  2 on the bottom and 2 on the top.
*We celebrated the Luehring Christmas on January 7th!
*The kids spent their first night at Gma & Gpa Guenther's alone, without Mom and Dad.
*Paul and I got to spend a night in Omaha with our dear friends Luke & Becky!
*Grady went to his first Husker Bball game, first Husker game of any kind, actually!  He LOVED it!  Keeps telling us he wants to go back again some day.  (Luckily for him, we are sharing Husker baseball season tickets with some friends this year!)
*Brynlee is getting very close to walking.  She stands on her own for awhile, but drops to her knees immediately if she realizes it, or if she wants to get somewhere.
*Grady got pink eye!  2 days before his bday, yuck!  Did pretty good with letting us put the drops in, he was scared of the anticipation of it, but then when we actually had to put the drops in, he was fine. (Brynlee never got it!)
*Went to Madison's 3rd Bday party!
*Grady went to the dentist for a check up AND to the doctor for his 3 year check up.  (Weight:  30.5 lbs.  Height:  38 in)
*We signed Grady up for preschool next year.  He will be in the 3 year old, Tuesday/Thursday morning class at Cathedral of the Risen Christ.
*We bought a van!  Yes, I'm a mini-van momma.  Paul talked me into it.  I can't argue that it is the best space for the money and mileage and everything.  So far we are LOVING it for the ease of getting the kids in/out!  So much easier!  And, I LOVE the automatic doors and remote start.  I'm getting too lazy to open my own car door....  :)  We traded in my little white 99 Grand Am.  Paul is much happier with the wheels he gets to drive to work now, and he has a radio again!  And doors/mirrors that aren't taped together....
*We did some painting/redecorating of the house.  The blue stripe is gone downstairs and we painted over it in red, so we now have a Husker room!  It is coming together quite nicely!  Can't wait to add more in the future!

Looking forward to February to:
*Grady starts swimming lessons!
*We are going to Elmo Live!  And, I am going to Mamma Mia!
*Luke's 3rd Birthday and party!
*We are going to be Aunt/Uncle/Cousins again!  Cassie & Andy are due on Feb 13th.  Can't wait for that baby to come!!  We were just talking with Gradyn last night about it because he said to me, "When Brynlee was born I went to the hospital with Ashley and had a balloon."  (After we saw a newborn baby after being born on TV (Tori and Dean!!) and we were talking about how when Brynlee was that little.)  So, now we are very excited to go see our new little niece or nephew in the hospital!
*A get together with college friends!
*Hopefully, a little down time after our busy January!  :)
