"Mommy, Say Okay!"

is what Grady says when you are telling him to NOT do something and he still wants to do it.  These are common terms heard coming from his mouth:

"Mommy, Say Okay!" - after I told him to stop going down to the end of the bed, under the covers, and that he needed to get on his pillow and go to sleep.

"Talk to ME!" - when he is asking a question (repeatedly) or saying something that we aren't sure needs a response, so we aren't responding.  He especially does this in the car, in a very frantic voice.  The nerve of us to try to have a conversation without him!

"No, don't say that!" - when we are telling him he can't do something, or scolding him for something.

"I was just...(fill in the blank)" - he has an excuse for everything!  We can hardly even start to scold him anymore without him shouting out a quick rebuttal for why he was doing it.  Oh my.

"Daddy said okay" - already pitting us against each other.  He makes sure that he does not get in trouble for anything if he can get one of us to say okay, even if he knows the other parent will say no, or has already said no.  When did he get so smart???  :)

"I'm just going to...(fill in the blank)...OKAY??"  - trying to get approval for what he wants to do so he can guarantee not being in trouble for it.  However, HIS version of what he is 'just' going to do is not always accurate as to what he 'actually' does!  Oh, how this scares me for the future with little boy antics!

Can you tell he knows what being in trouble is like?  He also knows when he is gets in trouble and has to go to timeout he does not get to watch TV that night OR play the iPad.  Kellan says it kills him when he has to go to timeout at daycare and he instantly knows what is coming that night.  Especially because a lot of the things he gets in trouble for are impulse things that he immediately regrets and knows was wrong.  Typical 2/3 year old stuff....
He pretty much only has to go to timeout at daycare about 1 day a week.  He learns his lesson very soon after he doesn't get to watch his beloved Nick Jr. for a night.  And now that he is obsessed with his iPad games/shows/apps, he is doubly dissappointed.  He told  me that I couldn't be on the iPad either!  Little does he know that is part of his punishment, being jealous of ME on the iPad! haha!
